Footsteps in our Educational Journey

“When God gives an assignment, he also gives the skill. Study your skills, then, to reveal your assignment.”
― Max Lucado, Cure for the Common Life: Living in Your Sweet Spot

Share with the class... Who helped you along the way to become the student you are today and the teacher you want to be tomorrow?

About Me

My photo
Dr. Gilchrist
I am a Professor of Secondary Curriculum & Instruction at Samford University. I have 8 years of experience teaching Art, Literature, and Writing in middle school. I've taught qualitative research for The University of Alabama, and enjoy writing and rich qualitative style research. I have my PhD in English Curriculum & Instruction from The University of Alabama. I love learning and being around others doing the same. My motivation each day is rooted in the idea that I can inspire someone to love writing just as much as I do. The fact that my job revolves around literature, writing, and creativity makes me love what I do even more. While I love teaching, being a part of teacher education allows me to branch out and see what's being done in more classes than just my own. Learning happens in "community"; thus teacher education is an amazing place to be.
